| Throughout life we are inspired by others to rise above the moment, give our very best in all that you do and press towards the future. I would like to dedicate the launching of this website to my late cousin, Sandra, who inspired me to go forward with this vision...to trust in the Lord with all thy heart and to lead not to my own understanding, in all my ways I will acknowledge Him and He will direct my paths! I am excited to share how this simple vision has become a reality. Ready, Set, Cakes! began out of my passion and love of baking for my family. I never thought decorating birthday, anniversary, and graduation cakes would evolve into the launching of Ready, Set, Cakes!. I never really thought that my love for decorating would actually catch the eyes of anyone other than my family. But each time I decorated a cake for one of my children or friends, someone always told me I had a gift. Well, I am thankful unto God for His development of that gift. When my kids started school I applied for a position with a major food chain as a part-time decorator; within 3 months I was promoted to full-time decorator and eventually the head decorator for the store. For six years, I worked tirelessly to develop my gift. loved my job but with the encouragement of my bakery staff, family and friends, I decided to trust God and take a step of faith and register for advanced cake decorating classes.
Over the years, I have been blessed to learn from some of the greatest in the field of cake decorating, such as Nicholas Lodge, Nohra Del La Pava, Steven Bension, Bee Keith, Pat Ashby, Colette Peters, and Mercedes Strachwashski. I had the pleasure of assisting Nohra Del La Pava for a year with her cake decorating classes in Miami, Florida.
I have received additional training with RBA Certified Decorator, Lynn Heiar. I was a member of several professional organizations such as RBA, SRBA, and ICES. Ready, Set, Cakes! is a vision from God and I hope to use the gift and eye for details and decorating that I have been given to create lasting memories for all of my clients.
I am very thankful to my family and friends who have encouraged me over the years especially to my husband and my children for their love, support and inspiration. Ready, Set, Cakes! began because I always wanted to be ready to create a memory for our family that would last a lifetime. Now, I desire to create those same memories for others.
